Following a skiing accident which resulted in multiple structure damage to my knee. I had to have knee surgery twice and lots of physiotherapy routinely, pre and post operatively. It was there I discovered the gap between being able to walk around and perform in my sport to the level I had done before the accident. This inspired me to study a degree in Sports Therapy, to bridge this gap and provide immediate care and rehabilitation. I now provide treatment and rehabilitation from day 1 to returning you to the game/sport you love and hopefully beyond to a better athlete than previously.
Having been injured for a number of seasons I understand the psychological turmoil an athlete goes through when injured this has helped me to empathise with my clients to get the best out of a rehabilitation programme.
I previously played football competively for a women's football team but retired in 2017. I now play golf, rugby and Crossfit.
With a love of cycling, I've completed the Hertfordshire 100, a 100 mile road cycle around Hertfordshire, supporting the Alzheimer's Society. Along with many other sportives. I've recently started taking part in some running events, with Standalone 10km being the first in 2016 and will now be an annual event on the calendar. May 2017 and 2018 saw me take on my most challenging event so far where I ran/walked my way from London to Brighton, a 63 mile route, in one go!
I believe in pre-habilitation as much as rehabilitation so believe in preventing an injury, not allowing you to get to the stage where you need to slow down in your sport. I also believe in treating a cause not a symptom, your knee pain is not always coming from your knee! Exercise is usually the best remedy!
I lectured at University of Bedfordshire on their sports therapy degree program from 2016-2019 and now lecture at Anglia Ruskin University . I am currently studying for a Masters by Research, within the field of golf and disease.
